Background Checks for Volunteers and Employees*

 “Check and Protect” is a program of the Volunteer Center of Southern Nevada.  Volunteer Center staff fingerprint volunteers/employees at customers’ convenience.  Prints go to the Nevada Highway Patrol for state sexual offense checks or the FBI for nation-wide criminal records checks.

 Benefits

• Convenience (Volunteer Center accommodates your schedule)

• Efficiency (results are returned usually within 3 weeks)

• Prevention (just the fingerprinting requirement can discourage predators from pursuing involvement with an organization)

• Protection against liability (demonstrating “reasonable effort” to prevent harm)

• “We Care” message (collateral materials publicize to employees and parents that you attach high priority to child safety)

Fees

$25 per check – NHP sexual offense records check
$45 per check – FBI nationwide criminal records check

*Background checks are not considered a guarantee against harm.  They represent one valuable tool in an effective screening system.
